The Vision

Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord offers one of the most robust engines for massive, chaotic battles. But while swords and shields are great, the engine has massive untapped potential for the brutal, large-scale industrial warfare of World War I.The Great War is an ambitious mod project aiming to transform Calradia into the grim reality of the early 20th century. We are moving away from medieval formations and focusing on trench warfare, bolt-action rifles, early mechanized armor, devastating artillery strikes, and the tragic collision of traditional cavalry charging into machine-gun fire.

What is Currently Being Done & What I Bring to the Table

I know that the Mod DB community sees many "idea guys" who want to make a massive mod but have no hard skills. That is not the case here.As the project lead, I am actively handling:
  • Game Logic & UI/UX Architecture: Mapping out the complex underlying logic for new weapon types and modern UI overlays, ensuring a smooth transition from medieval to modern combat interfaces.
  • Media & Presentation: Handling all high-quality video editing and promotional material to ensure our work gets the visibility it deserves once we have showable assets.
  • Deep Military & Historical Research: Leveraging a profound background in military history, strategic information warfare, and geopolitical combat dynamics to ensure the factions, weapons, and tactics feel authentic and lethal.
However, Bannerlord's specific engine and C# environment require dedicated specialists to bring this WW1 vision fully to life.


Open RolesWe are looking for passionate individuals who want to build something groundbreaking. If you have experience in any of the following, we need you:
  • 3D Artists (Hard Surface & Organic): To create historically accurate bolt-action rifles (Lee-Enfield, Gewehr 98), heavy machine guns, artillery pieces, and authentic WW1 uniforms/helmets.
  • C# Programmers: To handle Bannerlord's specific API. We need coders who can implement custom firearm mechanics (rate of fire, reload states), tweak AI behavior for trench defense rather than medieval charging, and integrate artillery systems.
  • Scene Designers: To build muddy, crater-filled No Man's Land maps, intricate trench networks, and war-torn European villages using the Bannerlord scene editor.
  • Animators: To replace sword-swinging animations with realistic rifle aiming, bolt-cycling, and reloading animations.
The Reality of This ProjectLet's be completely honest: this is a massive, unpaid passion project. It will be difficult, and overhauling Bannerlord's era is a technical challenge.
